Plone ist das führende Open Source Content Management System. Plone ist mehrsprachig und bereits in mehr als 35 Sprachen (u.a. auch Japanisch, Mandarin, Arabisch, Hebräisch, ...) erhältlich. Plone eignet sich für grosse Unternehmens-Portale ebenso wie für Intranets. Plone ist objekt-orientiert, läuft auf allen gängigen Betriebsystemen wie Linux, Windows, Mac OS X, FreeBSD und Solaris und lässt sich kinderleicht in wenigen Minuten installieren. Typo3 ist zwar (zur Zeit noch) verbreiteter als Plone. Plone ist aber Typo3 in jeder Hinsicht (Architektur, Skalierbarkeit, Performance, Sicherheit, Benutzerfreundlichkeit, Entwicklungsgeschwindigkeit, Standardkonformität, ...) überlegen. Da können selbst teure CMS namhafter Anbieter nicht mithalten.
